Privacy Policy

Summary

We collect the minimum needed to run a paid course platform: an account, your purchases, and your learning progress. If you ask for the free lesson series we also keep your email address so we can send it. We do not sell your data.

What we collect

  • Account: your user id and email, via our auth provider (Clerk).
  • Purchases: order id, product, and status, via Paddle (merchant of record). Paddle, not us, processes your card/billing details and tax info.
  • Progress: your lesson state, answers, quiz/recall scores, and time spent.
  • Free lesson series: if you sign up for it, your email address, the track you chose, how far through the series you are, and when the last message was sent.
  • Referral source: if you arrive from a link we tagged (for example a link in one of our own social posts), we store which campaign it was, so we can tell which posts bring people here. It records a link, not a person. See Cookies below.
  • Access logs: which lessons were opened and when, plus IP/user-agent, used to enforce session limits and detect scraping.
  • Watermark identifiers: an identifier derived from your account is embedded (visibly and invisibly) into content you view, so leaked content can be traced.

  • Cloudflare: DNS, CDN and security
  • PostHog: product analytics (configured cookie-free)
  • Sentry: error reporting
  • Resend: email delivery, both service email (receipts, account notices) and the free lesson series

Each processes data on our behalf under their own terms. Keep this list in step with the services actually enabled in production.

Marketing email (the free lesson series)

If you give us your email address at /free, we send you a short series of real lessons from the course, five messages spaced over about two weeks, and, occasionally, news about Roboteca. We ask for that address for this purpose and we do not add you to it any other way: buying a course does not subscribe you, and we never buy, rent or import lists.

Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time and that costs you nothing else. Unsubscribing from the series has no effect on any course you have bought or on the service email we must still send you about your account and purchases.

How to stop it: every message carries an unsubscribe link, and supports one-click unsubscribe in mail apps that offer it (RFC 8058). It takes effect immediately and needs no reply or sign-in. You can also write to contact@roboteca.co.

What we keep: your address, the track you chose, which messages have been sent, and the referral source described above. We record that a message was sent; we do not embed tracking pixels to record whether you opened it. If you unsubscribe we keep the minimum needed to honour that choice, so that we do not mail you again by mistake, unless you ask us to erase the record entirely.

Legal basis / your rights

We process data to perform the contract (deliver the course), for our legitimate interest in preventing piracy, and to meet legal obligations. Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA) you may request access, correction, or deletion via contact@roboteca.co. Deleting your account removes your progress; purchase records are retained as required for tax/audit.

Cookies

We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and our product analytics runs without cookies at all. The cookies we do set are:

  • Strictly necessary: the sign-in session cookie (Clerk) and checkout cookies (Paddle). Without these you cannot sign in or pay.
  • Referral source (rt_src, first-party, 90 days), set only if you arrive from a link we tagged, and only the first time. It holds a short campaign label such as tiktok|social|plc-01. It contains no identifier for you, is not readable by scripts, is never sent to another site, and is not used to profile you or to target advertising; its only purpose is to tell us which of our posts brought people here.

If we ever add non-essential tracking beyond this, we will ask for consent first.

Data location & retention

Data is stored with the hosting providers listed above. We keep progress while your account is active and purchase records for the period required by law. Free-lesson subscriptions are kept while you are subscribed; after you unsubscribe we keep only what is needed to make sure we do not mail you again.
